Affected area(s):
A major winter storm produced a dangerous mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain across large portions of the U.S., with the most severe impacts concentrated in parts of the South and Mid-South, then extending into the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast.
Power outages: Roughly 46K customers are still without power (down from over 1M at peek).
Fatalities: Reports indicate at least 13 weather-related deaths nationwide (toll may change as incidents are confirmed).
Primary hazards: Ice-driven tree/powerline damage, dangerous travel, and life-threatening cold exposure.
