Event Summary

Sudden torrential rainfall of 2 ½ to 4 inches over just 30–40 minutes triggered flash floods across Wheeling (Ohio County) and parts of Marion County (Fairmont area) during the evening of June 14–15, 2025

  • Fatalities: Between 6 and 7 confirmed dead, including a 3-year-old; 2 people still missing as of June 16–17

  • ~60 homes and ~25 businesses flooded or damaged

  • State of Emergency: Declared by Gov. Morrisey in both Ohio and Marion counties; National Guard deployed

  • Impacted Infrastructure: ~30–40 flooded or damaged roads and bridges

  • Wheeling & Ohio County: Citywide flooding, submerged vehicles, creek overflow

  • Triadelphia & Valley Grove: Some of the hardest hit—several of the victims lived in Triadelphia; widespread devastation

  • Marion County (Fairmont, Pleasant Valley): Infrastructure and apartment building damage; 165 emergency calls logged
