Beginning October 6 – 9, 2025, the remnants of Tropical Storms Priscilla and Raymond unleashed historic rainfall across eastern and central Mexico — especially in the states of Veracruz, Puebla, Hidalgo, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí. Continuous rain exceeding 20 inches (530 mm) in some regions triggered widespread flash floods, river overflows, and deadly landslides.

Medical facilities: 59 damaged or inoperable
Schools: 308 affected (by flooding or structural damage)
Road & bridge infrastructure: about 1,000 km (620 mi) damaged or washed out
Communities cut off: 100 + villages and neighborhoods isolated for days by mudslides and collapsed bridges
Shelters: over 130 temporary centers opened by Protección Civil and municipal authorities
Hospital evacuations: more than 700 patients relocated from flooded facilities
Geographic Highlights
Veracruz: record rainfall > 21" between Oct 6–9; rivers Cazones and Tecolutla overflowed, flooding Poza Rica and Papantla.
Puebla: about 80,000 people affected; extensive damage in Huauchinango and Xicotepec municipalities.
Hidalgo: about 1,000 homes damaged; landslides in mountain towns blocked roads and isolated dozens of communities.
Querétaro & San Luis Potosí: dozens of rural communities experienced flash flooding as tributaries rose rapidly.
