Event Summary

Severe monsoonal rains triggered flash flooding across Gila County, Arizona, especially affecting the towns of Globe, Miami, Claypool, and surrounding areas. The flooding was rapid and destructive, overwhelming drainage systems, inundating roads and properties, causing structural damage, and prompting search & rescue operations under hazardous conditions.

  • As of current reports, 3 confirmed deaths in Globe.

  • Areas affected are:

    • Gila County, Arizona

    • Mohave County, Arizona

    • San Carlos Reservation, Arizona

    • City of Globe, Arizona

    • City of Miami, Arizona

    • Several tribes/reservations such as Salt River and Pima communities

  • Gila County and the City of Globe have declared emergencies.

  • Damage estimates are very preliminary but are estimated to be over 75 homes potentially affected.

  • Globe recorded ~2.5 inches of rain over 24 hours during the peak event.

  • Many downtown and residential structures suffered damage. Historic buildings in downtown Globe were hit; one saloon’s exterior wall reportedly ripped off.

  • No confirmed count of damaged properties is available yet as local officials have requested people to fill out a self-damage assessment.

  • Multiple agencies will collectively support free services:

    • Clean-up and debris removal support

    • Emotional and spiritual care

    • Crisis counseling and unmet needs assistance

    • Help replacing IDs and important documents

    • Additional services as identified
