Updated 7/4/2025 - 1030hrs CST:

The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Emergency to San Angelo just after 4AM the morning of July 4th. It is reported that some places in the area has received 14.46 inches of rainfall and the flooding is ongoing and rescuers have responded to over 100 water rescues and there are reports of children missing and 6 deaths have been reported. A disaster declaration for the city of Kerrville has been issued - more than a season's worth of rain fell in just a few hours.

The Guadalupe river rose 22 feet in just three hours and was at its second-highest level on record early Friday morning. A few hours later, the river gauge that measured that rise was damaged and out of operation as a result of the flooding, according to the National Weather Service in Austin. This is considered a 1-in-100-year rainfall event for the area, surpassing even the 1987 flood.

A command center was set up at the AgriLife Extension office (US 87), and a shelter opened at PaulAnn Church on Smith Blvd. The Walmart on Junction Highway is acting as a reunification center.
